Sail away

Vlissingen is a lovely little port city on southwestern Netherlands, with a population of 45,000. It is a hub for shipyards called 'De Scheldt', where most of the ships for Royal Netherlands Navy are built. Around 50,000 ships pass through the port every year. In the 17th century, the town was one of the main harbours for Dutch East India company, and was referred by the name of 'Flushing' by the English.
