Bollenhut

Bollenhut is a wide brimmed straw hat, to which eleven wool roses, known as Bollen, are sewn in a cross shape. It forms a part of the traditional attire worn by women in the villages along the Black Forest. Young unmarried women wear red Bollen hats, while black Bollenhats signify already married. Children and old women wear the cap only without the hat.
