South Indian cuisine

The card shows dishes from South Indian cuisine. The centre is Sambhar, which is a lentil soup cooked with spices, vegetables and tamarind juice. On the top left is plain white rice. Below that is 'vada', which is doughnut shaped snack made from Lentils, gram flour, potatoes and spices. It can be eaten with our without Sambhar. Righ to Vada, are poppadums. On top of them, are Idlis, which are traditionally a part of the breakfast. They are steamed buns made of a batter of crushed rice and black lentils. They are ofen taken with Sambhar and Chutney. Finally on top right is my absolute favorite, the Dosa. Dosas are crepes made of crushed rice and black lentils, also taken mostly with Sambhar and Chutney.
