Namahage

A friend of mine says Namahage is a demonlike being that can dislodge the suffering and bring benediction. In Akita prefecture, Namahage(folklore demons) is famous. Namahage pays frightening visits to bad children and scare them. Namahage is portrayed by men wearing oversized ogre masks and traditional straw capes (mino(ja)) during a New Year's ritual of the Oga Peninsula area of Akita Prefecture. This card seems to be made of some other material than paper, has a musky and a spicy scent.
